Skye’s Open Day!
Join us for Skye Children's Cooperative Open Day, a unique and engaging way to celebrate Children's Week this year! Our open day will be held on Saturday 28th of October 2023, during Children's Week, a national celebration that recognizes the talents, skills, achievements, and rights of children. Each year, thousands of Victorian children take part in Children's Week festivities, and we invite you to join us for a fun-filled day of exploration, creativity, and community.
Skye Children's Cooperative is a small, community not-for-profit co-operative providing quality early learning and care services for children from birth to school-aged. Our experienced and qualified staff are passionate about supporting children's learning and development by seamlessly integrating the constructed and natural environment. We believe in children's agency and celebrate diversity, nurturing open communication and collaborative partnerships with families and the wider community.
Our open days happen once every 2 years, which makes this a special occasion not to be missed. This year, we have some exciting things planned for the day, and we're excited to merge the theme of Children's Week with our open day activities. Children's Week is based on UNCRC Article 31, which recognizes that children have the right to relax, play, and take part in activities they enjoy. We believe that play and exploration are essential parts of a child's learning and development, and we've designed our open day activities to reflect that.
The petting zoo will allow children to interact with animals and experience the natural world around them. Meanwhile, the show bags will contain activities that encourage creativity and exploration, allowing children to discover new things and express themselves in unique ways.
But Skye Children's Cooperative Open Day is much more than just a fun day out. Our open day is a chance for you to meet our passionate team, learn about our approach to early childhood education, and experience firsthand what we do at Skye Children's Cooperative. Our funded kindergarten program, based on the long day care model, has been providing high-quality early childhood education for working parents in the local community for over 30 years.
