Music and Movement
The Music and Movement program offered by Skye Children’s Co-Operative is a valuable component of our educational curriculum for young children. Our program incorporates music and movement experiences to enhance the development of numeracy, literacy, and emotional skills in children.
Research has shown that the integration of music into daily routines and play in early childhood has a positive impact on a child’s early development. Music stimulates both logical and creative areas of the brain, helping to build crucial neural connections.
Our program offers a diverse range of activities, including songs, nursery rhymes, instrumental jam sessions, fingerplays, and movement activities. These activities have been carefully designed to support children’s development in tonality and rhythm, with a focus on incorporating vocal play, animal sounds, rhythm play, language play, and fun.
Skye Children’s Co-Operative is proud to employ an early years music teacher and registered music therapist, who possess a background in neuro-rehabilitation, and are experts in neuro-musical development. Our music programs are planned with care for all age groups on a weekly, bi-term basis, using an Orff and Dalcroze style of teaching.
Skye Children’s Co-Operative’s Music and Movement program provides a unique and effective approach to early childhood education that fosters growth in both cognitive and emotional domains.
