Excursions Incursions Program
Skye Children’s Co-Operative offers a diverse range of incursions and excursions each term that cater to the interests, developmental needs, enquiry projects, intentional teaching, and teacher-directed learning of the children. These activities are not only enjoyable but also provide a plethora of benefits for the children.
Here are just a few examples of this year’s activities:
A visit from a dentist, where children had a chance to play and learn about oral hygiene.
Thingle Toodle, an early childhood road safety education program that helped children learn about staying safe.
Butterfly Encounters, where children were able to observe and handle live butterflies, learning about the wonders of nature.
A trip to the Melbourne Museum to learn about Australia's First People and their culture.
A visit to Rosanna Primary School as part of a transition program to help children adjust to the new environment.
A visit from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, allowing children to extend their inquiry project and meet musicians from the orchestra.
An incursion from Wild Action, introducing children to native animals in their local area and paving the way for future exploration through the Bush Kinder program.
These activities offer children hands-on learning experiences, exposure to new ideas and cultures, socialization and interaction with peers and professionals, and an opportunity to develop various skills, including communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
