Bush Babies Program: Nurturing Holistic Development Through Nature

We're thrilled to introduce our newest initiative: the Bush Babies program, an incredible extension of our well-loved Bush Kinder and Bush Toddler’s program. Our aim is to foster children’s holistic development through the magic of nature play, while also promoting coordination skills, community ties, and essential road safety awareness.

Deep Dive into the Bush Babies Program

The Gresswell Nature Reserve, with its rich biodiversity and serene atmosphere, has been a fantastic learning ground for our Eastern Grey Kangaroos and our Swift Parrots. Now, we're bringing this unique nature-based education to our youngest learners. With trained educators guiding them, our Sugar Glider will embark on exploratory journeys in quad prams, ensuring safety and comfort as they explore of their local community.

What makes the Bush Babies program exceptional is its fluidity. Activities aren’t fixed; instead, they are tailored to the children's evolving interests, our educational program, and spontaneous learning opportunities that nature presents.

Why Nature Play Matters

  1. Sensory Development: Nature is a sensory haven. From the rustling of leaves to the chirping of birds, every experience becomes a lesson in sensory exploration.

  2. Cognitive Development: With nature, every day is a new puzzle, waiting to be solved. It nurtures curiosity and encourages a deeper understanding of the world around us.

  3. Motor Skills Development: The uneven terrains challenge and enhance the gross motor skills, while the delicate act of holding a leaf or flower boosts fine motor skills.

  4. Learning Opportunities: Math, literacy, and other core subjects find a fun and interactive playground amidst nature.

  5. Emotional Well-being: Nature's tranquility has a therapeutic effect, making it a perfect backdrop for emotional grounding.

  6. Language and Communication Skills: From naming new animals to describing their surroundings, nature play fosters language development in the most organic way possible.

  7. Creativity and Imagination: In nature, everything is a prop for imaginative play. Here, a stick isn't just a stick; it’s a knight's sword or a magic wand!

Excursion Logistics

Understanding the unique needs of our youngest members, our excursions are designed with ample flexibility:

  • Duration: Each outing is kept under 2 hours.

  • Schedule: Post 9am departures, ensuring returns by 3pm. We will consider the little ones’ nap and restroom breaks, ensuring utmost comfort.

We're incredibly excited about the launch of the Bush Babies program. By blending nature with education, we hope to lay the foundation for a lifelong bond between our children and the natural world, instilling values of respect, understanding, and love for the environment. Join us on this enriching journey!
